Album of the Day - 6/7/11
Cibo Matto - VIVA! La Woman [1996]
Acid Jazz/Indie
I thought I’d hate this album, but to be quite honest I really like it. It’s not Licensed to Ill or Below the Heavens or any of the other albums I usually froth over, but as far as semi-electric weird alternative music goes, this was a good album to put in the background and just do whatever too.
I cant say I’m a fan of the vocals. At all. It’s all fine when it’s quasi-spoken word, like Sugar Water, but every other time words come out of their mouths I tune out and focus on the music, which I gotta say is really relaxing (mostly.)
Not much else to say about this, but that the album seems to occasionally switch from super chilled out to energetic auditory bombardment, (see Birthday Cake.) Whether this is a good thing or not is up to you.
